Small changes behind the scenes

Before my friends decided they could no longer stand the constant spam of my posts all across my G+ feed, I've created an "official" profile etc with its own G+. This also allows me to actually see individuals following *this blog* rather than just people I know generally.

To add to this, I've also created a facebook page for those who prefer to get their updates that way.

Gambling Isk

When I first started playing there wasn't really any "non game" ways of earning isk as far as I knew. I got introduced to EOH which was playing texas holdem for isk, and rapidly discovered I was terrible at poker.

Then came Somer Blink, which many of the richer eve players had a lot of success with, my personal experience with such micro-lottery sites however was that it was more often than not the rich people who won the big prizes, when there's 10 tickets your average low level gambler could only buy 1 or 2 tickets, but the rich could buy 5-6 tickets,
Somer recently got shut down for RMT reasons and other such drama, and from the ashes has risen several other competitors who may have been around before but were largely dwarfed by the monster that was Somer.

Here's 2 options I've found.

Sovereignty Wars, oh how I hate thee

I'm writing this post whilst I'm on a fleet fulfilling an important objective. The interface to write it is full screen, so I can't see my eve client. I've wandered away from the screen and made a cup of coffee, I've taken the bins out, I've been to check that the program I set on tivo is recorded, and I've got myself some biscuits. I've even had time to go to the bathroom (I bet you really wanted to know that).

I've done all of this *whilst* fulfilling this important objective! Why you ask?

TITAN!

This is me, in a titan!

Phoebe changing the world as we know it

I want you to take a moment and think back to the classic image from a godzilla movie.

Godzilla, stomping his way through tokyo, appears around a skyscraper, the camera pans down to the civillians on the street, who all freeze, looking up at him in terror, the scream builds and thousands start running like maniacs down the road shrieking and hollaring at the top of their lungs.

This is the image I get in my head every time there's talk of Phoebe's capital jump changes.

Just another fleet gif!

Fleet pics

ALMOST every null sec fleet is pretty boring. Sometimes you get blueballed (the enemy not turning up), sometimes you stand down to blueball the enemy after having been set up for 40 minutes.....
often a null sec fleet is grinding structures, which tends to boil down to drop drones, orbit fc, activate them on the giant target that'll take half an hour to die and wait...

So during fleets people post amusing pictures, tell jokes, shit up comms with randomness... much of what's linked is porn, because we're all knuckle dragging neanderthals... but sometimes there's amusing little gifs.

I'm setting up the "fleet gif" label to share some of these with you. I'll always try to put them under a cut in case they're naughty etc, but I'll not be linking the fleet-porn that's on there, there's always other sites for such things!

Null Sec: Skill Nazi's

So here's my first "proper" null sec musing.

TheMittani.com has provided the alliance update for Nulli Secunda so I can quote their orders rather than those put out across my own alliance for now. I know our alliance had similar orders, and I'd be very suprised if most didn't.

Twitch Streamer: Fintarue

Explaining the lingo:

I realised whilst writing my last post, that I may be throwing around terms that some readers don't understand (although I would tend to assume that most who read this are already playing eve).
So this is just a very simplistic breakdown of some of the key aspects of eve.

Why Eve:

I've been a gamer since the spectrum came out, and there's very few games I've been rabidly loyal to, I sank a few years of my life into WoW but having reached the end game I found it elitest and repetitive, cartoony and frustrating, especially on a less than stellar PC.

Twitch TV:

Twitch TV is something new to me. I read the patch notes where they spoke of integrating it with Eve, but as it wasn't an alteration to my ships, or something new I had to worry about killing me, I only paid it a seconds attention.

Then one of my corp mates set up a stream in an enemy system during war, and I started to see a little appeal. I still wasn't sold on it entirely, but it certainly helped to be able to see if a swarm of red was about to head in my general direction.

Around this time I took a little time out of Eve, and when I came back it was one of those forgotten things, like the doctrine ships I had in an old staging system.

When the Alliance Tournament came around however, Twitch was suddenly a thing I had to care about, because I love watching it. I spent entire days glued to my monitor watching what I consider to be the "most fun pvp possible" (equal sized small gang).

When the tournament ended however, I went back to ignoring it.
Recently, one of my corp mates pointed me at a stream of someone playing Eve, which I can honestly say I never thought would happen (my assumption was that if someone advertised their ship, fitting and location, some lowlife scrub would hunt them down and kill them, because it's all the intel you need). I really enjoyed watching him flying around looking for fights, and I was suprised to see he didn't suffer the gank I'd so cynically expected.

On further trawling of the site, I've found that there's a number of really good streamers out there, who catch my interest for one reason or another. Sometimes it's nice to sit back with a drink and watch somebody else flying around. Some streamers offer advice, some run give-aways and competitions, others are just doing stuff that it's fun to watch. Some even manage to make money (all be it not very much) from donations and subscriptions (and very annoying advertisements).

From time to time I'll share a streamer I've found interesting, maybe they'll catch your interest too.

A Brief Introduction:

This is my first foray into the world of blogging.

I am a null sec grunt in Eve Online. I've been playing now for about 7 years, with the traditional (it seems) several years worth of breaks, that I now curse for the damage they did to my skill queue.
I don't hold any position of authority or power, I am what can largely be termed an "F1 monkey".

I am active both in PVE and PVP, I dabble in industry here and there but can never find the heart to mine for too long.

Whilst my alliance will be reasonably obvious by the materials and information I post from time to time, I doubt anybody will get any vital information or spy worthy data from here.

Any opinions expressed here are my own and not those of anybody "official", my corp or my alliance.
